RUSSIA CYBER ATTACK UPDATE
Last night on the Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC, she reported that a warning was issued by the FBI, CISA, and HHS assessing malicious cyber actors who are targeting the HPH Sector with Trickbot and BazarLoader malware, often leading to ransomware attacks, data theft, and the disruption of healthcare services.
The attacks have shut down some procedures at Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls, Ore. The hospital is unable to offer cancer treatments that are computer-controlled, and the attack has curbed some diagnostic imaging as well. Another hospital hit by the ransomware is Sonoma Valley Hospital in California. More hospitals in New York State and Vermont have been targeted as well as the University of Vermont Health Network.
The Russian hackers, believed to be based in Moscow and St. Petersburg, have been trading a list of more than 400 U.S. hospitals they plan to target. Cyber security companies believe this is the most significant cyber security threat we've ever seen in the United States. The targeting of U.S. hospitals by the Russians during a major pandemic poses a major threat to the lives and security of the American citizens.
Microsoft began dismantling the operations last week, seeking to cripple a network of infected computers known as Trickbot that has been used to paralyze computer systems with ransomware attacks over concerns that this ransomware would cripple our electoral systems. The United States Cyber Command has also been working on dismantling TrickBot.
Although Microsoft and the United States Cyber Command have been working diligently to destroy TrickBot, they have not succeeded. The Russian hackers released sensitive election data that they acquired from infiltrating systems from Hall County in Georgia which includes voters names and registration numbers, and an election-equipment inventory after Georgia refused to pay the ransom.
A week ago, the FBI, Cyber Security, and Homeland Security stated that the Russian hackers had accessed dozens of state and local government networks as well as aviation networks. They compromised the networks of two counties, one in California and the other in Indiana.
In book three, chapter 33 titled THE CYBER ATTACK, the attack took place in August of 2020.
Stay tuned because the Russians are not finished with their criminal and inhumane acts.
